The Beat No Longer Goes On

Baseball Beat on XM radio is no more and the staff at Sully Baseball will miss the show.

Charlie Steiner was one of the funniest and engaging personalities on XM and it was terrific hearing him talk to sports writers who were also clever and not afraid to speak their mind about players.

I love Rob Dibble and I love Kevin Kennedy... but neither will say a bad thing about anyone anywhere EVER.

I hope Steiner lands back on the radio somewhere.
Meanwhile I am lucky to be living in the LA area where I can hear him on Dodger games.

I know Charley doesn't read the blogs... he makes that clear on almost every show.
In case he ever does... great show. I'll miss it.

  1. Sorry to hear that. I only caught the show occasionally, but he usually had good guests and asked probing questions. Any idea what is taking his place?

  2. This does indeed stink.
MLB on XM makes the days go by a lot quicker as a truck driver and Charlie was always good for a laugh and a great interview.

  3. I hate what the Sirius/XM merger has done to channel 175 on XM. The morning show is still trying to find its legs. I wasn't a big fan of The Beat, but at least Steiner and his guests gave baseball analysis instead of Holden Kushner trying to be a comedian. Dibble and Kennedy again were a little hard to take sometimes, but it was about baseball. Now a lot of that has been replaced with disk jockeys who aren't necessarily baseball people and aren't giving the type of baseball analysis we were used to. I hope that changes when Spring Training starts.
