It is Oscar night, one of the biggest nights on the Sully calendar.
So before the ceremony, I am going to make my official picks. These are not necessarily who I WANT to win (
Lincoln was my favorite movie of the year) but who I think WILL win.
Here at the official Sully picks:
BEST PICTURE:
Argo
BEST DIRECTOR: Steven Spielberg,
Lincoln
BEST ACTOR: Daniel Day Lewis,
Lincoln
BEST ACTRESS: Jennifer Lawrence,
Silver Linings Playbook
BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR: Robert DeNiro,
Silver Linings Playbook
BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS: Anne Hathaway,
Les Miserables
BEST ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY: Quentin Tarantino,
Django Unchained
BEST ADAPTED SCREENPLAY: Chris Terrio,
Argo
BEST ANIMATED FEATURE: Brave
BEST FOREIGN LANGUAGE FILM: Amour
BEST DOCUMENTARY FEATURE: Searching for Sugarman
BEST ORIGINAL SONG: Skyfall
BEST ORIGINAL SCORE: Life of Pi
BEST CINEMATOGRAPHY: Skyfall
BEST EDITING: Argo
BEST SOUND EDITING: Argo
BEST SOUND: Les Miserables
BEST VISUAL EFFECTS: Life of Pi
BEST COSTUME DESIGN: Les Miserables
BEST PRODUCTION DESIGN: Les Miserables
BEST MAKEUP: Les Miserables
BEST DOCUMENTARY SHORT: Kings Point
BEST ANIMATED SHORT: Paperman
BEST LIVE ACTION SHORT: Death of a Shadow
So I have
Argo being the second film since 1933 to win Best Picture without a Best Director nomination. That would give producers George Clooney and Ben Affleck each their second Oscar.
Quentin Tarantino will also probably win his second Oscar. I also have Daniel Day Lewis and Robert DeNiro becoming three time Oscar winners. And I have Steven Spielberg winning #4.
And
Skyfall cinematographer Roger Deakins should win a long over due Oscar. He was the cinematographer for
The Shawshank Redemption, Fargo, No Country for Old Men, True Grit and many other beautifully shot pictures.
I talk Oscars and about other baseball movie topics on today's podcast.
Enjoy the show tonight.
