Kenny Lofton... king of pain

FOX showed a stat last night about how Kenny Lofton was part of the 2002 Giants who collapsed to the Angels, the 2003 Cubs who coughed up the series to the Marlins, the 2004 Yankees who remain the only Major League team to drop a 3-0 series lead (I can't remember to whom) and now the 2007 Indians.

They missed another brutal collapse:
The 1999 Division Series where the Indians were up 2-0 to a weak Red Sox team that only had Pedro and Nomar... who were BOTH hurt for game 3.

Also he was part of the 1996 Indians team that had the best record in the American League and somehow lost to the Orioles in 4 games... and part of the 1997 Braves team that won 101 games and blew the NLCS to the Marlins.

Look at the back of his baseball card and you see he's been a vagabond since leaving Cleveland after the 2001 season (when the Indians blew a 2-1 division series lead to the Mariners.)

Heck, even DHL makes fun of his being kicked around in those ads (that oddly he doesn't appear in.)

He is the Johnny Appleseed of post season folds.
Looking for that first ring (which it is mind boggling that he hasn't been on a champion with all of those different teams) I am sure he will sign with a new team for next season... and that team will probably make the playoffs.

And I hope the players on that team are practicing their thousand yard stare and get ready to mutter "How did we let that get away?"...

And Lofton moves on to the next town.

William H. Macy in The Cooler had better karma.

Hey Mariners... the law of averages are in your favor

On Friday, August 24th, the Mariners beat the Rangers and stayed 1 game back of the Angels. They had two more games before their showdown with Los Angeles... or Anaheim... or California... or wherever the hell the Angels play.

They had dreams of a division title in their heads along with their 4 game lead in the loss collumn over the Yankees for the Wild Card.

9 games and 9 losses later, the Angels have all but clinched the AL West and the Mariners come limping into the Bronx where they now trail the Yankees in every collumn.

Chin up!

Look, we all know you weren't as good as you were 2 weeks ago where you were going neck and neck with the Angels.

But for the sake of Alvin Davis you aren't THIS BAD!

This classic Yankee hater is telling you to focus!
You are only one in the loss behind the Yankees... and they were just slapped around by Tampa Bay.

I didn't think that was possible!

You've got that kid Felix Hernandez going against Clemens, who might very well be hurt.

Win tomorrow and get back on track.
The Law of Averages say you will win a few games.

Just try to avoid walking in the winning run with the bases loaded!

Nice job, Seattle...

Seriously, nice timing for that whole 8 game losing streak.

Way to take this surprising season and run it into the ground before Labor Day.

And thanks for losing in all sorts of creative ways...

Blowing games to the Rangers?
Getting swept at home by the team you are chasing?
Taking a 5-0 first inning lead at home and coughing it up?
9th inning bases loaded walks?

I never understood why you just don't lob it down the heart of the plate when you are about to walk in the winning run. Maybe they'll pop it up.

And today you fell behind the Yankees in the loss column... and thanks to the morons in scheduling the Mariners have to play like 68 games this month.

It's going to be ugly, especially when they take on New York this week.
Seriously, we were all counting on your to win the Wild Card and give us a Yankee free October.

Nice job.
