Bud Selig is getting a statue?

Link

Really?

A statue?

According to Yahoo Sports he is... and why would Yahoo Sports lie to me?

I can only hope they preserve him for all time shrugging while watching the All Star Game end in a tie.

Now why am I against Bud Selig getting a statue?

Well, I listed some reasons why maybe Bud might not exactly be statue worthy a year ago.
You can read those here.

I don't know what it says about me, but when I heard Bud was getting a statue, the image of ANOTHER statue came to my mind...

    Yikes!

Obviously, you do not know the history of the Brewers franchise, and Milwaukee in general, or this would make sense. And you would see just how idiotic the comparison to Saddam Huissein's statue was.

First off, Bud Selig was the man who brought baseball back to Milwaukee, when he purchased the Seattle Pilots out of bankruptcy court between the 1969 and 1970 season. Before that, he was active in trying to secure an expansion franchise when MLB added four teams for the 1969 season. He also was a part-owner of the Milwaukee Braves franchise, before they relocated.

As "owner" (using the term loosely, as he was already named commissioner by then), he was also instrumental in getting Miller Park started; without it, Milwaukee would likely have lost their third major league franchise.

The honor is really more about Bud Selig, the former owner, than it is about Bud Selig, the current commissioner. Despite what anyone says.

Without him, Milwaukee is not a major league market; maybe a AAA franchise would exist there, but not a big league team.

  2. Do you REALLY think I was comparing him to Saddam Huissen?

    It was a statue joke.

I'm sure he did nice things for the Brewers.
He also colluded as owner of the Brewers... which means he made a conscious decision to NOT make the team better.

I do recall the team had talent then (the mid 1980s.) I wonder if he didn't collude if the team would have won a title or two?

Either way, the man who has done more damage to the game of baseball than anyone I can recall doesn't deserve a plaque on a bench... let alone a statue next to Robin Yount and Henry Aaron

A fine tibute. But not while he currently holds the office of commissioner. After he has left office would be a better time. It just looks like the Brewers organization isjust tying to score points.

  4. Hello Sully!
I see you were a bit lost, so did I. If you want to put aside for a while the story if the old Bud Selig, I recommend viagra online that can be really helpful, specially when your pal is abandoning you. Giving it a try won't hurt anyone, nevertheless it will be like an amulet of good luck.
