Throw Adam Wainwright's Name into the Cy Young mix

Earlier today I wrote about what a good weekend it has been for Cy Young contenders in the National League.

And at the end I said it was Adam Wainwright's move to get his name thrown into the conversation with Roy Halladay, Tim Lincecum, Ubaldo Jimenez and my dark horse Ricky Nolasco.

Well he met the challenge big time. With the Cardinals reeling from a 20 inning loss where Tony LaRussa was about to activate Bob Gibson to throw an inning, Wainwright threw a complete game victory and even got a double to start the game winning rally in the 8th.

(When was the last time you saw a pitcher hit in the 8th inning of a tie game managed by Tony LaRussa!)

So like Halladay, Lincecum and Jimenez, Wainwright is 3-0 with a low ERA.

This could be shaping up to be a very interesting year for ace pitchers.

Hey Johan Santana! Do you want to get in on this discussion? Then stop losing to the Nationals!
