The Brewers and Diamondbacks played a thrilling 5 game Division Series.
The Milwaukee Payroll was $86 million.
The Arizona Payroll was $53.8 million.
The Brewers payroll was lower than what the Yankees paid for A-Rod, Sabathia, Teixeira and A. J. Burnett in 2011.
The Diamondbacks payroll was lower than what the Red Sox paid for Lackey, Crawford, Drew and Dice K for 2011.
Keep that in mind when discussing payroll in baseball.

You don't swing your wallet at the pitch and each team gets 3 outs an innings regardless of salary so any team can win. This is particularly true in a short series. Where the effect of revenue & spending disparity is best demonstrated is in being consistently competitive and ability to bounce back from a bad contract.
