In honor of Nomar Garciaparra...

...a man who seemed to be destined to join the pantheon of Boston sports heroes

... a two time batting champ with a potent bat who electrified New England for 6 seasons

... a consistent MVP candidate and part of the best "whose the best?" debate since Willie/Mickey and The Duke along with Jeter and A-Rod.

... a man whose name could never be pronounced in New England (No-Mah Gah-Cee-A-Pah-Rah) but whose first name became a rallying cry

... sadly, like Fred Lynn, a man who could not out run injury and had the horrible misfortune of being too hurt to contribute in 2004, setting the stage for the gutsiest deadline deal in baseball history (sending the great "No-Mah" to the Cubs and getting Cabrera and Mientkiewicz to the eventual World Champions

... a man who should always be remembered as a great Red Sox and like Lynn, Fisk, Pedro and Mo Vaughn, a former Red Sox that I will always root for

THE MAGIC NUMBER IS 5!
