What I want for Wednesday, September 26, 2007

Last night was so close to being perfect that today I want to map out exactly what I want.

As I type this, the Rangers are beating the Angels 3-0 and I want that score to hold up to push the Red Sox closer to clinching home field.

What else do I want?

A RED SOX WIN AGAINST THE A'S
Duh. Clinch that division before the weekend!

A YANKEE LOSS AGAINST THE DEVIL RAYS
Prolong the inevitable and make sure the best the Yankees could do against Tampa is split the series.

A TIGER WIN AGAINST THE TWINS
Why not make the Yankees squirm another day?

A PHILLIES WIN AGAINST THE BRAVES
Forget the Braves! Tighten up that division and Wild Card!

A NATIONALS WIN AGAINST THE METS
Get the East Division in play!

A PIRATES WIN AGAINST THE DIAMONDBACKS
I'm telling you, I don't want a single division decided!

A MARINERS DOUBLE HEADER SWEEP AGAINST THE INDIANS
I'm telling you, I want that homefield!

A BREWERS WIN OVER THE CARDINALS
Or have I been subtle in my support of the Brewers?

A ROCKIES WIN OVER THE DODGERS
I am falling in love with the Rockies

A GIANTS WIN OVER THE PADRES
Tall order with Peavy on the mound.

If all of those games happen the way I want, then...

The Red Sox would be in the lead for home field advantage and have a magic number of 1 to clinch the division

The Yankees still would not have a play off spot clinched

All of the division leaders in the National League would have a lead of a single game.

And there'd be a 3 way tie for the Wild Card

I want it to be a huge traffic jam!
