Really, Marlin fans?

You couldn't sell out opening day?

I grant you, the Nationals aren't a big draw... but that could also mean a WIN!

And NO, Miami Herald, 30,000 on opening day isn't that impressive.

The fans who did show up saw three homers clear the way and an inside the park homer from Emilio Bonifaco.

Besides the fun of an inside the parker... guess what other fun fact surrounds Bonifaco's hit?
He was acquired from the Nationals in the off season.

That's right... he was part of the haul the Marlins got in the Josh Willingham/Scott Olsen deal.

Not only is he coming back to haunt his old team, but once again, the Marlins have shown they can't develop their own players... but man they can raid OTHER teams for their players.

It was a fun opener for a team I tabbed for 90 wins.

It's a shame nobody saw it.

  1. I saw the highlights on ESPN last night and noticed the outfield was completely empty. I knew they didn't draw many fans, but on opening day? Even the Nat's will come close to a sellout on opening day! Sad!

  3. 30,000 fans...That must include the Rats, Roaches and Wasps and bees flying around. How about 8,000 fans, And this will be the most attended game of the year.
