And the award for WORST UNIFORM OF THE 2010 SEASON goes to...

It's opening day, possibly the only day Royals fans will show up to Kauffman Stadium and you bust out these dreadful unis?

Not the classic whites?

Not the sleeveless jerseys?

Not the George Brett pull over jerseys?

Not the all blue tops?

Nope... they chose to look like the UNC baseball team (on the same day that Duke won the NCAA title no less!)

And guess what... those uniforms are POWDER blue. There is a color called ROYAL blue. The solid blue tops they used to wear were indeed royal blue.

Come on Royals. Just because you are putting an ugly product on the field doesn't mean you have to LOOK ugly.

  1. The ORIGINAL powder blues were cool and simple. Just powder blue with plain white "KANSAS CITY" text. These are a little too electric and with all that royal blue text and extra trim, don't work as well.

Those sleeveless ones though, make me want to throw up in my mouth. The only thing worse was when the Royals wore black sleeves. BLARGH!

Looks like they were still at spring training.
    Opening day....Classic whites.

Royals fan here, yes, we exist...

First thing I said when I turned on the game yesterday was remarking how ridiculous it was to be wearing the powder blues on OPENING DAY!!! They really don't look good, and if they are a nod to the past, then they should do it right and actually have a powder blue uniform, pants and all as they did back in the day, and they should be worn on the ROAD, as intended.

This is what I'm talking about:

The only difference I would make is to have the front of the jersey read "Kansas City" in script. By the way, I think this recent shade of powder blue is slightly different than the old school ones. I know something about the color doesn't look quite right to me. And the new hats really have to go. They look awful.

But this shouldn't come as a surprise. The Royals know better than anyone else how to screw something up, and this recent uniform is yet another disappointment.
